Fair and balanced reporting

So, 17 weeks in, and in the interest of fair and balanced reporting, I thought it was high time Daddy-to-be checked in to clear a few things up.

I've been losing a lot of arguments lately. Unaccustomed as I am to being wrong, I have been most upset to discover that I am now wrong far more often than in the last 7 years of our relationship. Not even having wikipedia at my fingertips has helped reinforce my usually infallible sense of logic and reason. And I've been losing them despite Marisa being at an obvious disadvantage this week.

Next, my cooking skills have come into demand in the last week or two. Sadly for both of us, using the word "skill" in the same breath as "my cooking" is putting it far too strongly. Anyway, we've almost filled an entire sheet with loyalty stickers from our local Indian takeaway, which means a nice cheap meal the next time it's my turn to "cook".

Oh, on a positive note, my driving is as in demand as it always was - not at all. It's my fault of course. Even though I hardly ever speed up when approaching a corner anymore (I used to do this in the interest of scientific inquiry rather than an attempt to exploit the brilliant handling characteristics of my car). And I hardly ever start braking with only 5 meters to go. And I hardly ever pull off from the lights with a smoky clutch left behind me. Hardly ever.

Last week I was encouraged to start growing a belly of my own, as I was told that it's "simply not fair that I'm still so skinny". Fat chance, honey. This man is staying slim for as long as my aging frame will let me.

Anyway, it's obviously been an absolute joy so far. I have the most wonderful wife who hasn't been ratty or moody or too tired for me once. She's been the best. Bless her.

Love you honey!

14 weeks

On Thursday we were 14 weeks!

I have been doing really well the past few weeks, beside morning sickness everyday and a bit of tiredness I have actually felt pretty good! I have had quickening, I know it is early but I have definitely felt the baby move! At first I thought it was my imagination and then it happened again, and again the next night and I have felt it ever since!! It feels like light tapping from the inside....pretty cool!

I am looking forward to my birthday this coming week, first pregnant birthday! :O)

12 weeks 4 days!!!

Happy days!! I am 12 weeks 4 days pregnant, we went for our scan today and jelly bean looks great.

We saw the brain, heart, stomach, boths legs and arms etc. The little one wouldn't move so that the sonographer could measure it's neck, the sonographer started bashing my stomach to wake the little one up (cow)! Eventually she got what she wanted after much sighing!!

I then had to go have blood taken, which landed up being a bit of a drama as all my veins kept collapsing (I wouldn't make a very good junkie - but now look like one!!) So they tried both arms, and then tried the right arms for a third time!! Anyways, they got my blood and I had to lie down - was about to faint! Drama Drama!

Anyways, here's Jelly beans 12 week scan! JB measured 6.2cm.

HEART BEAT loud and clear

Thurs 24/01/08

I had the most awesome experience today, I went to my midwife for my first appointment and they offered to listen for the baby's heart beat. I got to hear the beat for the first time!!! It was magical and I felt like crying because I had been worrying about the baby!

It was the most beautiful sound in the world!!! This clip is taken with my mobile just so that you can hear the heart beat. Fast huh! The little bugger kept moving around so it disappears for a bit and then comes back! Cool huh?????

BIG SCARE!

Wed 16/01/08

I have been bleeding since yesterday and passing clots, today we went for a scan to check the baby out, and all seems to be okay thank goodness.

There is no apparent reason for the bleeding and they have said that they can't say for sure that we wont loose the baby, but for now the baby looks fine. I just have to take it easy.

This is the 10.5 weeks scan.
