Delivery from the Stork

Just a quick post really, more to come, but....

Ethan Sven Poppelmann was born in the wee early hours at 00:35 of the morning of 11 August 2008. He weighed in at an impressive 8 pounds (on the nose) and is a picture of chilledness and good health. Mum is fine, but knackered and catching up on many much-needed zzzzz's.

40 weeks...due date come and gone!

Our due date has come and gone. No amount of walking, hot chilli massala curries, passion or pineapple seems to help coax this little guy out!

I saw my midwife yesterday and baby has changed position again. He is now in the correct position for birth. Heartbeat still good and strong and all is still on track for a home birth! Which I am thrilled about , as I somehow got my wires crossed (preggo brain will do it) and thought that I couldn't have a home birth after 40 weeks!

If baby does not arrive before Thursday next week, I will more than likely have a membrane sweep done on Thursday 14th. A membrane sweep has halved the rate of induction, which is good. I would rather have a sweep than be induced!

Now baby just needs to come before the 17th - so that his 'great ouma' can meet him before she flies back to Germany!

38 Weeks Pregnant

These are the last sets of photos before our little man is born! I have been told that I am huge, but I don't really feel it. The view I have is that my stomach is a basketball from the top!!

We are very excited for the birth, and are still on track for a home birth. Hopefully the little man will be on time, so that we can still have him at home.

Enjoy the photos.

The little man's nursery!

I have finally finished the nursery!!!

We have put all the little mans things together and in place for his arrival. Daddy did all the DIY, build it kinda things and mama did all the decorating! I love the room, it is so colourful and happy.

It has been fun, now I just have more ironing to do - all his little clothing presents!

SURPRISE Baby shower

Well, on saturday the 5th July Sven and I got ready to go to what I thought was a pub lunch for Sven's sister, Melanie's birthday!

We drove to the venue and as we pulled up, I thought I saw a friend of ours Lourens. I said to Sven, "hey there's Lou!" he said "no, no that's not Lou". Now having known Lou as long as I have known Sven, I kinda know Lou when I see Lou!!! Anyways...we got out the car and started walking to the venue, when I see some more of my friends and I'm thinking - hang on a minute...what the heck is going on. I still don't get it, until Sven says something!!! Hehe! I am left speechless for about 15 minutes - total SHOCK! hehe!! What a lovely baby shower surprise!!

Sabrina had planned the whole thing perfectly, as I knew she would. Sven and Brin, discussed dates etc and kept it from me!! I was expecting the baby shower to be the following weekend! WELL DONE GUYS!!

We had a lovely day, and our little man has been totally spoilt with lots of clothes, toys, books, socks...you name it he has it. The kid has more clothes and socks than I do!! hehe! We are very lucky to have such amazing friends and family. Thanks to everyone!

Here are a few pics from the day!

Mummy and Daddy to be go to Spain - 32 Weeks

We went to Spain for a last chance break before our little man arrives, and for the wedding of one of Sven's colleagues. We stayed one night in Sevilla, Spain. Sven surprised us by booking at the most amazing hotel I have ever seen or stayed in. On Friday morning we walked through Sevilla, which is absolutely lovely!

Sven took some photos at the hotel of the bump at 32 week. I think that they are lovely. I am feeling fine, a little heavy at times, especially when I walk for long periods and when it is hot! On the whole I feel fantastic and am so excited to meet our little man.

We then went on the to Almendralejo, Spain for a few days and for the wedding. Boy was it hot there. The wedding was lovely and it was nice to dress up!
